The Balochistan Health Department has introduced Drug Rules 2018 under Section 44 of the 1976 Act in a bid to launch a crackdown against the mafia selling fake and counterfeit medicines in the province. In the first phase, according to the Drug Rules 2018, commissioners of all divisions would lead the Quality Control Board, comprising deputy commissioners, drug inspectors, pharmacists and health department officials.
Using the new rights, the board members would be responsible for monitoring and launching inspections at all medical stores in their respective districts to ensure that quality medicines were being sold to the people of Balochistan. The board has been given full power to launch strict action against any medical store found selling fake and counterfeit medicines to innocent citizens and seal them.
