More than 7000 families have been affected by a severe drought in Balochistan’s remote District Chagai fearing people’s influx to escape drought.
Deputy Commissioner Chagai Qaseem Khan on Wednesday sent a letter to the provincial government demanding immediate relief operation in drought hit Chaghi District.
“More than 7000 families have been directly affected in Chagai as the District sizzling with severe drought while livestock is being died due to scarcity.” DC Chagai Qaseem Khan Kakar said.
Provincial Minister for Home and PDMA Saleem Khosa has informed Chief Minister Balochistan regarding alarming drought situation in Chagai District, the government has been taking emergency steps to commence relief operation.
The District Administration of Chagai District has sent a letter to the provincial government calling immediate steps of relief operation in Chagai as drought gripping more areas of the province due to lack of rains.
The Government of Balochistan has called the concerned Deputy Commissioner of Drought hit regions to take briefing and suggestion regarding relief operations.
The Pak-Iran bordering District Chagai had witnessed worst drought back in 2002 when thousands of families had migrated to other districts to escape drought.
