5 substandard stents were discovered by investigation team during raid in Lahore.

The federal drugs investigation team has started raids to observe the use of unregistered stents in government and private hospitals.

In this regard, Drug Inspectors conducted a raid at Shifa International Hospital Islamabad to observe the use of unregistered stents.

During eight hours observation of pharmacies, wards and labs, no unregistered stent was discovered by Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP).

In Lahore, an investigation team comprising of Additional Director Quality Assurance, Director Medical Devices and Deputy Director General conducted investigation into Mayo Hospital Lahore case and seized five different types of stents for not meeting the regulatory requirements.

During the raid, poor storage practices of medicine’s and stents were also observed in old and tertiary care hospitals.
