QUETTA: A major reshuffle was carried out in the Balochistan health department by transferring over 200 doctors and trainee specialists on Friday.

According to a notification, 172 doctors and 43 specialist cadre trainees were transferred and posted to various hospitals and rural health centres.

The action was taken on the orders of Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri in consultation with Health Minister Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch.

According to sources, the decision is aimed at improving the health facilities in all the districts of the province.

Provincial Health Secretary Noorul Haq Baloch said the government was striving to improve the condition of health facilities, deploy staff and provide equipment, adding that the salaries of the doctors had been increased and all of them were being given professional allowances.

He said those serving in the interior areas of the province would also be given special allowances, which would make their salary rise to Rs 100,000.
