QUETTA: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Balochistan Assembly has decided to formally ask the authorities concerned to conduct investigation into release of funds to local body institutions and audit of the funds’ utilisation.
At a meeting of the committee held on Friday and presided over by its chairman Abdul Majeed Achakzai, it was decided that a letter would be written to the director general of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for conducting investigation into distribution of funds among local government institutions.
Provincial Finance Secretary retired Captain Akbar Hussain Durrani briefed the PAC on the release of funds to local bodies.
Mr Achakzai said there were 635 union councils in the province and funds should equally be distributed among them. He said an investigation by NAB would bring actual picture of the utilisation of funds.
The meeting was attended by MPA Yasmeen Lehri, Secretary Local Government Hafiz Abdul Majid, Director of General Audit Nasarullah Jan and other officials.
