QUETTA: Speaker Balochistan Assembly Ms. Raheela Hameed Durrani has said that women in Balochistan didn’t lack in talent; they are capable and courageous.
Speaking to a delegation of SPO here, she said that the talent of women was needed to be brought in use, adding that the empowerment of women at grass root level could be enhanced through building capacity of the women counselors. She said that as women Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly, she has always tried her best to encourage women, adding that women make half of the population of this country and they can play their positive role in the development and prosperity of the country. Responding to a question, she said that it was very unfortunate that the mother and child mortality rate in Balochistan was higher than the other provinces and effective steps were needed to pre-empt it. She said that resources were brought in use for the education of girls in different section, adding that the health facilities are also being provided to women in far flung areas of Balochistan. She said that mother and childcare hospitals have been established in eight districts of Balochistan to protect the lives of the mother and child. Responding to yet another question, she said that according to a report the presence of incumbent CM Sanaullah Zehri and his predecessor Dr. Malik Baloch is the highest in the assembly session than the other CMs in the past.
