QUETTA: The first session of women caucus of Balochistan Assembly was held here on Tuesday with Speaker Balochistan Assembly Ms Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani in chair.
Ms. Yasmeen Lehri, Ms. Spoxzai Achakzai, Ms. Masooma Hayat, Ms. Samina Khan, Ms. Hassan Banu, Ms. Kishwar Ahmed Jattak, Ms. Shahida Rauf and others were present during the session.
Three bills that were introduced in Balochistan Assembly during the session of 17th April which include the Bill of Persons with Disabilities, Stay of Marriages of Immature Children and old citizens bill were handed over to the women members for further improvement.
The members agreed that they would review the bills clause by clause and would formulate recommendation to present in the next session of the Assembly.
Speaking on the occasion to the participants, the Speaker Balochistan Assembly Ms. Raheela Hameed Durrani said that the process of legislation has to be expedited if the women are to be made powerful, adding that the role of women parliamentarians is very important in this regard.
She stressed upon the women parliamentarians to come forward and take part in the process of legislation, adding that they should play their role in solving the problems of the women of the province. She also assured that the office of women caucus would soon be established, adding that where women parliamentarians would be provided all facilities for legislation.
She suggested that the legislation taking place in Sindh and Punjab should be kept in view while legislating in the province.
