QUETTA: The Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) on Wednesday handed over Member Provincial Assembly Abdul Majeed Khan Achakzai to Police in newly emerged murder case reported in 1992 against him.
The provincial legislator appeared before the Magistrate here in District Court following newly emerged murder charges against Majeed Achakzai.
Police urged for Achakzai’s physical remand to investigate the allegations against him on which the court remanded Majeed Achakzai to police for two days.
The newly emerge murder case of local trader Abdul Ghaffar Ghibzai was reported in Civil Line Police Station on behalf of his family in 1992.
Talking to media Achakzai’s lawyer Naseebullah Tareen said, Police nominated my client in case that was reported against unidentified persons, “During the 25 years period Majeed Achakzai elected as member of Provincial Assembly multiple times neither anyone asked for his physical remand nor discussed the murder case.” Naseebullah Tareen said.
Showing his reservations on the investigation process Naseebullah Tareen said, from the first day we took clear stance that deliberately Majeed Achakzai is being nominated in ghost cases that is clear violation of law and justice.
MPA Majeed Achakzai was arrested in hit and run case on 24 June after the CCTV footage of the accident aired on media.
Constable Haji Attaullah was killed after Majeed Achakzai accelerated his vehicle on him at GPO Chowk on June 20th.
