The chief justice of Pakistan took suo motu notice on Wednesday of Balochistan MPA Abdul Majeed Achakzai running over a traffic policeman to death in Quetta. The Chief Justice has summoned detailed from Balochistan police. He has also directed District Police Officer D.G Khan to ensure that there shall be no pressure on family of deceased police official. Achakzai’s vehicle hit and killed the traffic police sergeant who was performing his duties at the GPO Roundabout in Quetta last week. In one of the photos, the MPA is seen sitting on the driving seat of the vehicle that ran the policeman over. According to details, the vehicle owned by Achakzai killed a traffic police warden, Ataullah, in GPO Chowk of Quetta on Friday. The seriously injured traffic police sergeant was taken to Civil Hospital but Dashti succumbed to his injuries. A case was registered against the MPA after IGP Balochistan and other senior police officials also took notice of the tragic incident. But after the CCTV footage of the accident went viral on social media and was repeatedly shown by TV channels, Inspector General of Police, Balochistan, Ahsan Mehboob and other senior police officials chose to lodge a manslaughter case against the MPA of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party. Achakzai had also appeared on some TV channels and provided some justifications. The PkMAP legislator, who was elected to the Balochistan Assembly in 2013 elections from PB-13 Qila Abdullah, also meant to leave for Dera Ghazi Khan along with tribal elders to meet the family of Dashti.
