Inspector General Police Balochistan Ahsan Mehbood has said that anti-CPEC forces are involved in the kidnapping of Chinese national who want to make the project unsuccessful through such activities.

He said this while talking to media here on Thursday soon after his arrival from Islamabad. He said that Police and law enforcing agencies have launched intelligence based operations in the Pak-Afghan frontier regions, in Quetta and other parts of the province for the recovery of Chinese nationals, adding that all the resources are brought in use for the safe recovery of the abductees. He said that the Chinese nationals are still in Quetta or its suburbs who would soon be recovered. He further said that the Chinese nationals had refused to take police security themselves despite being offered, adding police had provided them effective security. He said that the kidnap of Chinese nationals was a part of well thought plan, adding that this aimed at sabotaging CPEC.

Responding to a question, he said that as per preliminary reports, the abductees are within Quetta and therefore security has been beefed up on internal and external ways of Quetta.

Meanwhile Two Chinese nationals kidnapped from Jinnah Town Quetta could not be recovered despite lapse of 24 hours of their abduction.

According to the security sources, a three member team headed by DIG Anti-Terrorism Force Ahitzaz Goraya has already started working on the recovery of the kidnapped Chinese nationals and operations are underway in different parts of the Quetta city and elsewhere in the province. However, no conspicuous progress has been noticed yet, neither any group has claimed the responsibility for the kidnapping.
