The land of warriors and the land of sacrifices, Pakistan is one of the leading countries who is on the forefront of fighting the war against terror. Trump’s administration, however, felt the need to request an international task force to put Pakistan on a terrorism-financing watch list, a decision that has stunned and alarmed Pakistani officials and one that could deliver a major blow to the nation’s economy.

On the other hand, non-state actors are targeting the pinnacle of CPEC project which is in Balochistan. The strategy charted down by the non-state violent actors in Balochistan is to target every single state organ which is vital for CPEC.  The non-state actors are doing religious radicalization with the fascinating ideology of “Trans-regional Religion-Islam” of ISIS. Efforts are being made to bring the momentum in chaos, and cause instability in the province by targeting the Armed Forces and also the minorities, to give a negative impression. The sectarian fundamentalist such as Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) has paved their religious ideology with the ideology of Islamic State (IS). Now they are doing rapid radicalization in the province and targeting people on the basis of their religion.

In order to curtail the heinous agenda of such non-violent groups, Armed forces of Pakistan are putting in endless efforts. Pakistan army is doing various Intelligence Based Operations (IOBs) in entire Balochistan to snub the wave of terrorism producing by this alliance. These operations fall under the umbrella of operation ‘Rad-ul-Fasad’.  Recently, Intelligence Based Operations (IOBs) were carried out in the area of Killi Almas, Balochistan. The chapter head of Balochistan Laskar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), named as Salman Badeni, was a high-value target that was neutralized in this operation. Salman Badeni was alleged to have killed more than 100 Hazara minorities.

In this entire operation, Pakistan Army bore a heavy loss as Colonel Sohail Abid of the Military Intelligence along with four other soldiers, embraced martyrdom. After this whole operation, the systematic chain of LeJ and IS would have been damaged by now. Pakistan Army is keen to mitigate these threats from the soil of Balochistan. On this operation, even the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, expressed deep grief over the martyrdom of soldiers and prayed for the departed souls. PM Abbasi reiterated that these sacrifices won’t go wasted and there will be peace in Balochistan. He said that “Our soldiers have paid the price of freedom with blood and there is no higher sacrifice than it. We as a nation are united than ever against the coward enemy”.

Overall Pakistan Army is paying a heavy price to endure peace in the province, but non-state elements are still on their toes, trying to sabotage the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. Pakistan is supposed to get on a blacklist of FATF, it is the duty of Pakistan policymakers to highlight such sacrifices of Pakistan Army in front of the international arena to fabricate the positive image of Pakistan.
