The weekend was not ideal for Balochistan as in one of its districts some deadly clash between two groups happened which killed eight people. The incident happened in the Chaghi district of Balochistan which is an adjacent area to Pak-Afghan border. According to the sources, these tribesmen had a clash on a land dispute. When the clash erupted, security forces cordoned off the whole area and dissolved the tense situation. Levies told the sources that the fear was looming all over the area but the rapid response from the forces managed the situation. The individuals who have been killed in those clashes are Abdullah, Mahmood, Muhammad Nabi, Muhammad Ashraf, Sardar Agha, Wali Jan and Abdul Baqi.
In response to the critical situation, the provincial government made an investigation team and took several measures as pre-medication. The provincial government banned pillion riding in Balochistan for 10 days. Furthermore, the Home and Tribal Affairs Department issued a notification under the 144 Act that no one can carry weaponry in Balochistan for 10 days. These measures have been taken by the provincial government to control the violence which is ongoing in the whole province. Levies have been authorized for patrolling the areas. Apart from this violent act, another story came on the evening of the weekend when a boy found a hand-grenade and he brought it to his home as a toy. The hand-grenade accidentally exploded and killed two women in that house. The boy’s mother and sister died in the blast. This horrific act occurred in Panjgur area of Balochistan. Responsibility lies in the hands of the state that’s why Home Minister took notice of the whole situation and ordered the Law Enforcement Agencies to increase their efficacy.
As Balochistan situation is very critical, not in a sense that it is fragile but, province can’t afford the instability in the region as now China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has been turned into ground reality. Last week, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi formally inaugurated the first phase of Gwadar Free Zone Which welcomes the whole world trade to Pakistan. The notion welcomes the world for cooperation which is not regional but trans-regional. So overall Balochistan is on the path of development and prosperity. Such events can be used for sheer propaganda in international media to sabotage the image of Balochistan. This whole apparatus can be used to halt the foreign direct investment in the Balochistan.
One cannot contain the mishappenings but the way provincial government and the law enforcement agencies are working, it’s breathtaking. It was the Balochistan where people avoid to go as there were no-go areas. People were sceptical of Balochistan, they criticized the government for not owing to their people and the people of Balochistan felt marginalized. On contrary, it’s Balochistan where the WORLD EXPO has been organized. people from the world are not coming to see Balochistan but to invest in Balochistan. These are the efforts of provincial government and state apparatuses, through which Balochistan is shining today.
