Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says Balochistan will emerge as the richest province of country as a result of the incumbent govt’s efforts.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Saturday says Balochistan will emerge as the richest province of country as a result of the incumbent government’s efforts.

He was talking to newsmen after chairing meetings with the provincial leadership on law and order situation as well as development projects in Quetta on Saturday.

The Prime Minsiter said law and order situation has improved in Balochistan, which revived development and economic activities.

He said they have discussed the ways to further eliminate the threat of terror from the province besides ensuring the execution of development projects, committed by both the federal and provincial governments.

The Prime Minister said in pursuance of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s announcement, it has been decided that gas supply will be expanded to every district headquarters within this year which will cost 15 billion rupees.

He said work on the longstanding project of solarizing tube-wells will be initiated this year, which will be accomplished in three phases.

The Prime Minister said Kachi Canal Project will start functioning within 10 days to irrigate around 70,000 acres of land in Balochistan.

He said the federal government’s social welfare schemes of health cards as well as Benazir Income Support Program will be expanded across the province.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the people of Pakistan would give their verdict in the next election and the present government is only focused at serving the masses.

To a question, he opined that former President Asif Zardari should become part of the grand dialogue on democracy.

He said the PML-N does believe in confrontation with any institution. He said the
people will be the better judge in next election.

Earlier, chairing a meeting on law and order in Quetta, the Prime Minister said the government is giving top priority to restoration of peace in the country, especially in Balochistan.

He said practical measures are being taken for the purpose.

Chief Secretary Balochistan Orangzeb Haq briefed the meeting about law and order situation in the province.

Governor Balochistan Mohammad Khan Achakzai, Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch, National Security Advisor Nasir Khan Janjua, Commander Southern Command Lt. General Aamir Riaz, and other high ranking officials also attended the meeting.
