QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to fill 20,000 out of 35,000 vacancies in different provincial departments in 90 days. The appointments to Grade 11 to 15 posts will be made through the National Testing Service (NTS).
According to sources, a meeting held last month with provincial Chief Secretary Saifullah Chattah in the chair was informed that around 35,000 approved vacancies were in different provincial government departments.
Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri after knowing about these vacancies ordered the departments concerned to make arrangement for recruitment on them purely on merit.
The sources said that in the first phase 20,000 vacancies up to Grade 15 would be filled through the NTS. The process of recruitment on 20,000 posts would be completed in three months. Recruitment on posts of Grade 16 and above would be made through the Balochistan Public Service Commission which also held competitive exams on 94 posts of assistant commissioners, section officers and tehsildars last month. Around 20,000 male and female candidates appeared in those exams.
The sources said majority of the posts were vacant in the education, health, livestock, social welfare and forest departments.
It has also been learnt that Commander Southern Command Lt Gen Aamir Riaz during a recent meeting with senior officials of the provincial government stressed the need for filling vacancies in provincial government governments.
Meanwhile, Balochistan government’s spokesperson Anwarul Haq Kakar while confirming the plan of filling 20,000 vacant posts in the province said that the provincial government was also making operational the technical training centre, which was gifted by the Chinese government to the province, and other training centres in the province. He said a large number of young people would be trained in these institutions.
He said the chief minister had taken notice of ghost employees in the health and education departments and issued directives for taking strict action against them.
Mr Kakar disclosed that a large number of posts of ghost employees had already been declared vacant and that new people would be recruited on them.
