QUETTA: Secretary Finance Akbar Hussain Durrani has said that Finance Department is making full use of the department to create more opportunities of revenue following 18th Amendment.
He was talking to the Country Director of the UNDP during a meeting here on Monday.
He said that in this regard Balochistan Revenue Authority has been implemented and considerable amount has been accumulated under the head of services, adding that however it requires further improvement. He said that Balochistan Investment Board had also been established as it was need of the time following China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He said that the establishment of Balochistan Bank is also in the final phases for the proper use of resources available. He said that this bank would be a merger of public and private procedures, adding that to improve the financial technical capacity PFVPIFA project has also underway which would sensitize the government employees on financial matters.
The Provincial Government had been working on the project of Balochistan Bank recently after the independent economist proposed such a bank at Provincial level.
It is definite that it would provide jobs, develop skills and generate enough resources for speedy economic development of Balochistan cover all important sectors.
He said that recruitment is also underway in Finance Department on merit and the services of National Testing Services have been acquired for the recruitment of 342 vacancies in the province. He said that details of all the employees are acquired from NADRA.
According to another report, Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development (P&D) Dr. Umer Khan Babar has said that the international donors would be welcomed for balanced economic development in the province
He was talking to the UNDP country Director Mr. Ignacio Artaza during a meeting here on Monday. He said that the role of sub agencies of United Nations World Institute for Development is also appreciable. He said that Balochistan is facing thorny problems in terms of potable water and depletion of ground water level, adding that this has caused enormous problems for the masses in the province. He said that the 36 development targets of UN need to be implemented in Balochistan, adding that this is a worth recognizing fact that government of Balochistan is working to provide the basic amenities of life to the people with limited resource at hand.
