QUETTA: Religious leaders in Balochistan have called for unity, dialogue, and peaceful solutions to the province’s issues.
After a seminar on peacebuilding, senior scholars said Islam forbids killing civilians or damaging public property. In a joint statement, they condemned terrorism and armed violence, stressing that no group has the right to declare jihad or use Islam to justify bloodshed.
Joint Statement
Religious scholars released a combined declaration voicing grief over the continuing violence and deaths of innocent people in Balochistan.
They stressed that Islam upholds the complete sanctity of human life, declaring that killing civilians, workers, travellers, or security personnel is strictly forbidden and considered fasad fil ard — creating chaos and corruption on earth.
The scholars firmly denounced terrorism, insurgency, and attacks on public property, stating that such actions have no religious basis, regardless of political or ethnic arguments. They also made clear that no individual or group has the authority to proclaim jihad or use Islam to justify violence.
Denouncing Foreign Involvement
The scholars also denounced alleged foreign involvement in Balochistan, claiming that outside forces are trying to fuel division and unrest to weaken Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran.
They specifically accused India of backing militant activity in the province, referring to Pakistan’s repeated claims that New Delhi supports groups like Fitna al Hindustan.
Religious Obligation to Uphold Peace
Quoting the Holy Quran, the scholars declared that reconciling conflicts is a clear religious responsibility.
They pledged full support for efforts to restore stability in Balochistan, stating that the province’s ulema and mashaykh are prepared to take on any role needed to help bring lasting peace.
