QUETTA: Custom Quetta on Wednesday has set on fire approximately 09 tons of smuggled narcotics and destroyed 05 tons smuggled alcohol confiscated during various custom’s raids here.
The drugs were set on fire in Lak-Pass area the outskirts of the provincial capital by Collector Custom Quetta Saeed Jadoon.
“We had seized more than 09 tons narcotics comprising opium, marijuana, alcohol and artificial drugs worth 80 million in international market.” Additional Collector Custom Quetta Dr. Fareed Ahmed told media.
“Custom Quetta has foiled numerous smuggling attempts during the year and our mission against smuggling would continue unabated.” He added.
8600kg marijuana, 132kg morphine, 800 gram Christel, 474kg opium, and 05 ton smuggled medicine were set on fire while 1100 bottles of imported liquor were destroyed.
“Last drug burning ceremony was held in 2015 and today’s 09 tons smuggled narcotics were confiscated during the years 2016-17,” added the custom officials.
