Iran border security forces had fired five blind mortar shells from Iranian side into the Pakistani territory of Taftan area of Chagai District. However, no casualties were reported on Sunday. All the mortal shell landed on a barren land—far away from the population.
Assistant Commissioner Taftan Zafar Kubdani confirmed the incident and said that five mortar shells were fired from Iranian side between pillar number 104 and 106; however, no casualties was reported. Levies personnel visited the site where the shells landed and dispatched a report to the Deputy Commissioner Chagai.
The shelling was totally uncalled for and it was unprovoked, said some observers.
There was no activity in the vast areas and even there was no movement of people when the aimless mortar shells were fired on the Pakistani territory presumably to create harassment among the local population residing close to the Iranian borders.
There was no explanation from the Iranian officials on other side of the border.
