Ceasefire between Pakistani and Afghan forces is holding as the Friendship Gate remained closed for the fourth day on Monday suspending trade and movement between the two countries.

Pakistan had closed the international frontier for trade and movement of people following an unprovoked attack on the census team in two border villages which left 12 people killed and more than 40 injured.

The immigration system remained suspended as the people were barred from approaching the border area for security reasons. They are asked to remain four kilometers away from the Chaman border.

Supplies to the NATO forces in Afghanistan remained suspended besides the normal trade and movement of people. There is a big queue of trucks loaded with merchandized goods to cross to Afghanistan.

However, trade activities at the local level had been resumed as the buying and selling picked up some pace on the fourth day of the crisis.

In the meantime, the survey teams from both countries are performing their duties to clearly demarcate the boundaries in both the villages of Killi Luqman and Killi Jehangir from where trouble started between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

According to reports, some of the displaced families had started returning back to the homes after the ceasefire is holding restoring the confidence of the local people.

A child was killed and four others were injured when one of the mortar shells dropped at their mud house damaging the house to a great extent. The shell was fired from the Afghan side. The local officials did not take notice to it considering it an isolated incident.
