QUETTA: Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Dr. Shama Ishaq and Additional Director National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Faisal Qureshi said that the role of women cannot be ignored in eradicating corruption from the society.

They expressed these views while addressing to a seminar titled, ‘Role of Women in Rooting out Corruption’ here on Wednesday organized by NAB in collaboration with Balochistan Women Business Association.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shama Ishaq said that the masses should send honest people to the Assemblies through their vote, adding that this would lead to eradication of corruption.

She said that the masses send such people to the assemblies who sit quiet for five years but the masses pin hope on them that they would resolve their problems.

She said that it was a worst case of corruption where money was recovered from water tanks, adding that whoever gets a chance for embezzlement, he never lets this go. She appealed to the participants of the session that they should vow not to sit with ease unless corruption is totally eradicated from the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Administration NAB Faisal Qureshi said that women are determined to eradicate corruption in Balochistan and their role cannot be ignored in this regard. He said that membership of more than five thousand women in Balochistan Women Business Association bears testimony to the fact that women wanted to earn through lawful means.

He said that NAB has been attempting to partner with all school of thoughts in society for the eradication of corruption and today’s seminar is also aimed at such sensitizing against corruption, adding that a woman’s positive attitude and thinking can shape the very basis of her family. He said that establishment of a vigilant, developed and prosperous nation was not possible without woman.
