‘It is only when the people become ignorant and corrupt, when they degenerate into a populace, that they are incapable of exercising their sovereignty’ – James Monroe
As Monroe said when corruption touches the sky, people became inefficient. Corruption is a curse for any society. Particularly in Pakistan, the people are well aware now and literate too. Recent developments in the society apprehended and punished the culprits. Government is fighting against the corruption even media is also highlighting it. Specifically, Balochistan issue is that development did not get induced in the province and people refrained from the opportunities. The whole two generations of Balochistan grew up away from fast pace development in the province.
In order to pace up the development in Balochistan, the government initiated a program named as Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package. The program was highly praised among the people of Balochistan. Many Ferraris even surrendered due to this program. Still, the government is committed to implementing Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package, which was agreed upon by all the political parties in a joint session of the parliament approximately 8 years back.
Where there is gold there is a chance of robbery, the issue of fake jobs came into limelight when the Baloch people recorded their protest in Quetta. People accused that their quota is being shifted to somewhere else. Either they are again refrained due to seats occupied by other people who are not part of the quota being offered in Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal took notice of the issue. There was an allegation that people use fake Balochistan domicile for getting the jobs. Chairman NAB asked about a full-fledged report for all the appointments even in federal and provincial quota. He reiterated that the Quota must belong to only Baloch people as it is their right. He ordered the secretary of Establishment Division to report about every single seat given to the employees and those seats will be verified after submission of the reports. Chairman NAB also directed to submit a report of all approved posts as it is a matter of immense importance. Moreover, he was very vocal and summoned the causes of not appointing the deserving Baloch people as per quota.
The blame does not go on the government of Balochistan as they are keen to resolve the deprivation faced by the Baloch people. It is the job of civil servants and law enforcement agencies to have a check and balance on such matters. Making fake documents i.e. domicile itself is a heinous crime. Quota allocation from the Federal government is the only way to accommodate the people of Balochistan. Government is trying to put every step towards progress but such culprits sitting inside the system halt the progress by doing such outrageous acts.
Furthermore, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is the body of government, which means that Governments’ intentions are very clear to give jobs to those who are deserving. The element of corruption should be premediated before launching such facilitation programs. The Government is keen to not eviscerate the Baloch people’s right and estrange the corruption from Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package.
